Claude Motion Pricing: $40/mo or Your Designer?

Claude Motion Pricing: $40/mo or Your Designer?

Claude Motion pricing and whether it replaces your motion designer or video editor both depend on one plain fact: published reports checked on October 23, 2026 say the feature is only available on Claude Team and Enterprise plans. Lao Zhang AI and Creative AI News put the cheapest way in at $40 a month on annual Team billing (October 2026). It animates your text, charts and images. It does not film anything.

That answer is enough for most readers to decide quickly. If your video work is mostly animated numbers, title cards and simple explainers, Claude Motion may take some of it off your plate. If your work is footage, voice, music and a finished edit, you still need the person you pay today.

The rest of this piece covers the real cost for a solo operator, the jobs Motion can plausibly take, the jobs it cannot do, and how to test it without wasting a month.

What Claude Motion actually is

Claude Motion is a beta feature inside Claude that writes code for a short animation and exports it as an MP4, according to Kingy AI and eesel AI as read on October 23, 2026. You give it text, figures, a chart, shapes or images you already own, and it turns them into moving graphics.

The important detail is that the output is code. Eesel AI's review (checked October 23, 2026) describes the animations as editable, so you can change a word, a number or a timing without rebuilding the whole clip. That sets it apart from tools that generate video as fixed pixels, where one wrong word often means generating a whole new clip and hoping it comes out right.

The same sources are just as clear about the limits. Eesel AI and Kingy AI report (October 2026) that Claude Motion does not generate filmed footage, realistic scenes or AI-generated people. If you need a presenter on screen, that job belongs to an avatar tool, and our HeyGen review of AI avatar videos covers that side of the market.

None of the sources we read describe Motion as a full video editor. They don't mention a timeline, multicam, audio mixing, colour grading or compositing. Treat it as a motion graphics generator and plan the rest of your workflow around that.

Claude Motion pricing by plan (October 2026)

Claude Motion has no separate price. It comes with Team and Enterprise plans and uses their normal allowance, according to eesel AI's pricing write-up checked on October 23, 2026. Every figure below comes from third-party sites. None of the results we found show these numbers as an announcement from Anthropic, so check them again on the official Claude pricing page before you pay.

Plan Price as reported Motion included? Source and date checked
Free $0 No eesel AI, Oct 23, 2026
Pro $20 a month, or $17 a month billed annually No eesel AI, Oct 23, 2026
Max From $100 a month No eesel AI, Oct 23, 2026
Team Standard $25 per seat monthly, or $20 per seat billed annually Yes, in beta eesel AI and Lao Zhang AI, Oct 23, 2026
Team Premium $125 per seat monthly, or $100 per seat billed annually Yes eesel AI, Oct 23, 2026
Enterprise $20 per seat billed annually, plus usage at API rates Yes, once an owner enables it eesel AI and Kingy AI, Oct 23, 2026

The two-seat catch for solo buyers

A freelancer can't buy a single Team seat, because Lao Zhang AI and Creative AI News both report a two-seat minimum on Team as of October 2026. That makes the entry cost $50 a month on monthly billing, or $40 a month equivalent on annual billing, per those same sources checked on October 23, 2026.

This is the part that hurts. A solo creator who already pays for Max, which eesel AI lists from $100 a month (October 2026), still gets no Motion at all. You would be paying for a second seat you may never use, just to reach a feature that is still labelled beta.

If you have a partner, a part-time assistant or a contractor who could use the second seat for ordinary Claude work, the maths gets friendlier. If you work alone, you are paying for a colleague you don't have.

Team Premium and Enterprise

Team Premium gives each seat five times the usage of a Standard seat, according to eesel AI's pricing page read on October 23, 2026. That matters for Motion in particular, because the same source says longer and more complex animations use up more of your allowance than a normal chat message.

Eesel AI (October 2026) lists Enterprise at $20 per seat billed annually with a 20-seat self-serve minimum, plus usage billed at API rates. Most small businesses don't have the headcount for this tier, so most readers can skip it.

How far does a Team seat stretch?

Nobody has published how many usable clips a Team seat produces before it hits a limit, and that is the biggest gap in every Claude Motion pricing article we read. Eesel AI and Lao Zhang AI report (October 2026) that Team usage runs on session limits that reset every five hours, plus weekly limits. Nobody has published a per-animation cost, a maximum clip length or a maximum resolution.

Here is how the limits work, so you can reason about them. Motion shares one pool with everything else you do in Claude and in Claude Code. A long morning of writing proposals, sorting email or running coding tasks leaves less for animation that afternoon. If you already use Claude a lot to build things, our guide to what Claude Code can do for non programmers shows how quickly that kind of work can fill a session on its own.

Complex clips cost more than simple ones, per eesel AI (October 2026). A short title card and a chart animation with many moving parts won't use the same share of your session. Since nobody publishes the numbers, the only honest budget is one you measure yourself in the first week.

To measure it, take your real backlog of small animation jobs, run them through Motion on a normal working day, and note when you hit the session limit. Repeat across a week and note when the weekly limit kicks in. That gives you a clip count for your own kind of work, which is the only figure that matters for your budget.

Does Claude Motion replace your motion designer or video editor?

No published evidence shows it can fully replace either one, and the sources we read support a much narrower claim. Based on what eesel AI and Kingy AI describe as of October 2026, Claude Motion may take over some short, repeatable motion graphics work built from text, numbers, charts, shapes and images you supply. It doesn't cover the rest of a video job.

Jobs Claude Motion can plausibly take

These are the kinds of task where editable text and timing are the main requirement.

  1. You save the back-and-forth on number updates in a recurring chart animation, because changing a figure in code is quicker than reopening a project file.
  2. You get title cards and lower thirds without writing a brief, since short animated text on a clean background is close to the core use the sources describe.
  3. You can make versions of a clip for different clients by swapping in words or logos you already own, as long as the layout stays the same.
  4. You can draft an explainer quickly with animated shapes and labels, then decide whether it is good enough to ship or worth handing to a designer.

Jobs that still need a human

These are the tasks the sources either rule out or never mention.

  1. Footage still needs a camera or a stock library, because Motion does not generate filmed scenes, per eesel AI (October 2026).
  2. Presenter videos still need a person or an avatar tool, because Motion does not create people, per the same source.
  3. Voiceover, music licensing and sound mixing stay with you or your editor, since no source describes audio features in Motion.
  4. Cutting a long video together still needs an editor, because nobody has reported timeline, multicam or colour tools in Motion. For footage-heavy work, our roundup of the best AI video editors for faceless channels is a better starting point.
  5. Creative direction and brand judgment stay human, because no published test shows Motion keeping typography, pacing and brand consistency right across a real client project.

For a small business, it comes down to this. Motion may cut down the small, fiddly jobs you currently send to a freelancer. It is unlikely to replace the freelancer on projects that involve footage, sound and a finished cut.

What we could not confirm

Nobody had published systematic testing of Claude Motion in client work as of October 23, 2026. We found no reports, good or bad, on broken renders, timing errors, weak typography or MP4 exports that fail on a social platform. The articles available are mostly explainers or promotion. That silence is a reason to test before you cancel anyone's contract.

Pros and cons of Claude Motion

The case for Claude Motion is easy editing and the fact that it comes bundled with your plan. The case against it is the cost of getting access and how little has been published about it. Here is how that breaks down.

Pros

  1. Edits are cheap, because the output is code and eesel AI (October 2026) says you can change a word or a number without rebuilding the clip.
  2. There is no extra line on the invoice, since eesel AI reports no separate Motion fee as of October 23, 2026.
  3. MP4 export gives you a standard file for your existing editor or social scheduler, according to Kingy AI's description (October 2026).
  4. Your own assets stay in charge, because it animates what you supply, which keeps brand colours and charts under your control.

Cons

  1. Solo access costs at least $40 a month on annual billing, because of the two-seat Team minimum reported by Lao Zhang AI and Creative AI News (October 2026).
  2. Max subscribers can't use it, even at the $100 a month tier eesel AI lists as of October 2026.
  3. Capacity is unpredictable, because no source publishes a per-animation budget and Motion shares limits with all your other Claude and Claude Code use.
  4. It is still in beta, per eesel AI as read on October 23, 2026, so how it works and who gets access can change without much warning.
  5. It makes no footage or people, and nobody has reported audio tools, which limits it to motion graphics.
  6. There is no independent testing yet, so every quality claim you read comes from promotional articles or from sources close to the vendor.

Who should not buy Claude Motion

Solo creators who only want Motion should hold off. Paying for two Team seats, which Lao Zhang AI puts at $40 a month minimum on annual billing as of October 2026, to reach a beta feature with unpublished limits is a weak deal for one person.

Video teams whose work is mostly footage should also skip it. If your weekly output is talking-head clips, product shots and edited interviews, Motion only touches the small graphic overlays, and your editor does everything else.

If you already use Claude heavily and have a strict monthly budget, be careful. Motion draws from the same pool as your writing and coding work, per eesel AI (October 2026), so adding animation can push you into limits you never hit before.

Agencies that need guaranteed turnaround should wait for real-world reports. Until someone publishes how reliably Motion handles revisions in client projects, it is risky to promise a deadline that depends on it.

Who it may suit

Small teams already on Claude Team get the most out of Motion, because it costs them nothing beyond usage, since eesel AI reports no separate fee (October 2026). If several people in your business use Claude daily and you often need short animated charts, stat cards or explainer snippets, it is worth trying.

Businesses that publish data often, such as monthly reports, investor updates or social posts built around numbers, are the most natural fit. In those jobs, changing a figure and exporting again is the whole task.

FAQ

How much does Claude Motion cost?

Claude Motion has no separate fee and comes with Team and Enterprise plans, according to eesel AI as checked on October 23, 2026. Eesel AI reported Team Standard on that date at $25 per seat monthly or $20 per seat on annual billing. With the two-seat minimum reported by Lao Zhang AI (October 2026), the cheapest entry is $40 a month on annual billing. Check the official Claude pricing page again before buying, because these figures come from third-party sites.

Is Claude Motion included in Claude Pro or Max?

No. Claude Motion is not available on Free, Pro or Max, according to eesel AI as read on October 23, 2026. That includes Max, which the same source lists from $100 a month as of October 2026. You need a Team or Enterprise plan to use it.

Can Claude Motion make a full video with footage and a presenter?

Claude Motion cannot generate filmed footage, realistic scenes or people, according to eesel AI and Kingy AI (October 2026). It animates text, charts, shapes and images you supply and exports an MP4. You still need footage, an avatar tool or a human presenter for anything beyond motion graphics.

How many animations can I make per month on a Team seat?

Nobody had published that number as of October 23, 2026. Eesel AI reports that Team usage has session limits resetting every five hours plus weekly limits, and that complex animations use more of your allowance than a normal message. The only reliable figure is the one you measure with your own jobs in your first week.

Should I cancel my freelance motion designer?

Not on current evidence, because no published testing shows Claude Motion handling full client projects. It may take over small, repeatable graphics jobs where only text and numbers change. Keep your designer for anything involving footage, sound, creative direction or brand-critical work until you have tested Motion on your own backlog.

Verdict

Claude Motion is worth trying if you already pay for Claude Team, but it is hard to justify paying for Team on your own just to get it. Its strength is editable, code-based animation of things you already have, which can save real time on charts, stat cards and title text. Its weaknesses are the Team seat minimum for solo buyers, the beta label, unpublished usage limits and the lack of footage, people and audio. Keep your editor, test Motion on your smallest recurring jobs, and decide after a week of real numbers.
